Riley Hospital Bids Farewell to Dedicated Volunteer

Ten thousand hours of service is a lot no matter what you’re doing, but to do it all on a volunteer basis is highly admirable.  Hubert “Doc” Hall has done just that.  Doc has been volunteering at Riley Hospital for the past 10 years.  If you’ve been a patient or visitor at Riley, you’ve probably seen Doc delivering flowers or manning the front desk in the main lobby.  Doc’s smile is a fixture at Riley Hospital and will be dearly missed.

Doc is a World War II Veteran.  He ran away from home when he was 15 years old and joined the military.  He was only 17 years old when he participated in the invasion of France on the beach of Normandy.  Seriously injured, he lost his right arm.  After returning to the states to recover, he worked for the Post Office for 25 years.  Doc got married in 1949 and had a daughter in 1953.  He is going to live with his daughter in Missouri when he leaves Meridian, and we wish him the best.

To honor Doc for his many years of dedicated service, Riley Hospital will host a reception in his honor on Tuesday, January 29, 2008, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the First Floor Board Room.  All media representatives are invited to attend.

Riley Hospital is a State and Joint Commission-accredited acute care medical complex that has served the east Mississippi and west Alabama region since 1930.  Riley Hospital is owned and operated by Health Management Associates, Inc. (HMA), which is headquartered in Naples, Florida.  HMA owns 59 hospitals in 15 states.
