Accounting for more than 30 percent of the nation's managed and outsourced wound healing centers, National Healing Corporation (NHC) is an industry leader. The company recently honored Riley Hospital Wound Healing Center in Meridian with its Best Overall Wound Outcomes Award, recognizing it at the forefront of providing exceptional care.
Riley Hospital Wound Healing Center specializes in the treatment of chronic wounds that have not responded to previous treatment in more than 30 days. The Wound Center was recognized for achieving a 91 percent heal rate with the average wound taking just under seven weeks to heal.
NHC Chief Clinical Officer Katherine J. Rowland presented the award saying, "The team at Riley Hospital has worked to provide the very best care year after year. Faced with chronic wounds, the clinical staff was able to prevent amputations and reduce the need for that procedure to less than 2 percent, which is anything but a dry statistic to those patients whose quality of life was preserved or bettered by the tireless dedication of everyone at Riley Hospital Wound Healing Center.”
The winners of the annual NHC awards are based on data from clinical measures reported from its centers. The award was accepted by Medical Director, Dr. Mark Elliott, Program Director, LaVisa R. Glass and Clinical Nurse Manager, Kimberly Hagwood. "It is a privilege to work with a staff entirely committed and focused on patient care," said Elliott. "When you see the difference we can make in helping people retain their mobility or their independence, it motivates you to give 100 percent each and every day."
One of the highly specialized treatments offered at the center is hyperbaric oxygen therapy which works by surrounding the patient with 100 percent oxygen at higher than normal atmospheric pressure to increase the amount of oxygen in the patient's blood and promote healing from the inside out. The center now has four hyperbaric oxygen chambers and eight treatment rooms to better serve its growing patient volume.
In addition to tissue oxygenation, Riley Hospital Wound Healing Center also employs the use of vascular studies, tissue culturing and pathology, revascularization, skin grafting and clinical or surgical debridement.
Riley Hospital Wound Healing Center is located at 1102 Constitution Avenue in Meridian. Call 601-484-3432 or visit www.rileyhosp.com. for more information.
